LAS Artists Recognized at Exhibit
Three LAS artists had work juried in to the annual Malama Wao Akua exhibition at Viewpoints Gallery in Makawao. The exhibit is a fundraiser for the East Maui Watershed Partnership. All art has to represent species of plants or animals endemic to Maui.
Ceramic artist Mary Anne Leigh, photographer David Schoonover, and painter Eleykaa Tahleh each had art selected to display in the gallery.
Mary Anne won the Juror’s Choice Award for 3-Dimensional art for her piece representing a Nene.
David won the Juror’s Choice Award for Photography for a picture of an endemic ‘Amakihi bird on an endemic and endangered Lobelia Grayana.
Eleykaa’s painting of a native bird on ‘Ohi’a Lehua graces the entry to the exhibit.
