Koana has been a resident of Maui since 1986. Koana is a late bloomer artistically. She took her first drawing class in 1995 and has since gone on to take painting workshops from many of Maui's great teachers.
Koana is a member of the Lahaina Arts Society, the Plein air Painters of Hawaii and the Hui Noeau.
Koana is a native of the San Francisco Bay area. She holds a BA Degree in physical education and an MA in counseling from the University of California at Berkeley. She was a high school teacher and counselor for 23 years in the Bay area.
From 1987-2001, Koana worked as a concierge on the west side of Maui. Since 2001 she has worked with corporate conventions and as an Elderhostel tour leader in Hawaii. She is also the Hawaii State Coordinator for the Ramtha School of Enlightenment.
When not painting in oils or woatercolor, Koana enjoys swimming, snorkeling, dancing hula, scuba diving, hiking, reading and traveling the world.
